Microsoft and Platinum's Split over Scalebound

Scalebound. Set to be an Xbox One release and exclusive was a third person RPG game comparable to the open world Final Fantasy games, or it would of been. The game had ceased development after Platinum Games and technology titan, Microsoft, had broken up and as a result, Scalebound has ceased development, no longer to be worked on and unfortunately shut down.

Scalebound's last public viewing was during Gamescom 2016 and that was the last of the gameplay demos and alphas. Since Gamescom, fans were left in the dark with Scalebound's development and were hoping that the game would come to Xbox One within the year. Microsoft Studios released a statement on the development situation on Scalebound.

"After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences."

The statement shows that Microsoft Studios has more projects on their minds that they want to create, far more than Scalebound. This is understandable as they want to create sequels to the games that fans would absolutely adore. Halo Wars 2 needed a sequel as the story was left on a cliffhanger at the end of the game. Fans wanted to know what happened to the protagonists of the game, therefore a much anticipated sequel. Same goes for Crackdown and State of Decay, all these games had the similar endings: Needing sequels. As for Sea of Thieves, this game is a brand new series that Microsoft Studios want to work on.

Another reason on Scalebound's termination was allegedly due to the 'heavy workload' and 'senior developers forced to take a month off for too much pressure' and when the developers returned, the project was terminated due to overdue deadlines. This added another notch to Platinum's mishaps, after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:Mutants in Manhattan and Star Fox Zero. They hope that their upcoming PS4 and Windows PC game, Nier: Automata with make a comeback after their unfortunate events.
